Our wraps are made with durable, high-quality materials from industry leaders, but they're not invulnerable. Like your car's original paint, a wrap needs a little TLC. The tips below will help you get the most out of your wrap. If you have any questions about vinyl wrap care for your vehicle, call Streamline Vinyl today.

Top Tips for Caring for Your Vehicle Wrap

  • Wash your car regularly.
  • Start by rinsing off as much dirt and grit as possible with running water.
  • Use a clean, wet, soft sponge or cloth and a non-abrasive detergent. Some colors (like matte and satin) should only be washed with a soft scrub.
  • Rinse your car with clean water.
  • Avoid waxes and other products. They're designed for paint, not vinyl.
  • Automated car washes may cause the wrap to become dull. Some can scratch the wrap or lift the edges. Hand washing is preferred, but in a pinch, a brushless car wash is better than one that makes contact with your vehicle.
  • Take care of difficult contaminants right away.
  • Spot clean the contaminant without using abrasive tools or scrubbing.
  • Wash the area thoroughly, and remove all residue.
  • Wipe off fuel spills immediately.
  • Gasoline degrades vinyl and adhesive.
  • Wash, rinse, and dry the area thoroughly.
  • Be careful if you attempt film restoration.
  • Avoid abrasive polishes and cutting compounds.
  • Avoid polishing and wax products on matte and textured films.
  • Remove any wax or wax residue with an all-purpose cleaner.
  • Store your wrapped vehicle indoors or under cover if possible.
  • If a garage is not available, consider using a cloth car cover.
  • Sun and pollutants will degrade the vinyl (just like they do paint).
  • If you notice discoloration in the vinyl, remove it immediately to avoid damaging the paint beneath it.
